Our Training Model
Located on the waters of the beautiful Pacific Northwest in Tacoma, Washington, P. I. E. Corp is a private practice known for high-quality, innovative, and evidence-based civil forensic assessments. Our professional identity emphasizes relevancy-focused and streamlined forensic assessment. Our work is social justice oriented, with referrals often involving victims of complex trauma and intersectionally disadvantaged identities as they navigate the legal system.

Practicum / Preinternship
Our training model is open to predoctoral practicum students. We have established relationships with many programs, including Seattle Pacific University, Northwest University, Antioch University, and Fielding Graduate University, yet also remain open to students from other programs, as well.
During their year, practicum students can expect to produce multiple (i.e., 10 – 20) comprehensive and integrated shadow civil forensic reports. Our training model also offers bi-weekly didactics and trainings, regular group supervision, close individual supervision, connections with our larger community of forensic psychologists in the state, extensive training in conducting psychodiagnostic assessments, and advanced trauma case conceptualization.
Our supervisors ensure a wide variety of evaluations and assessment styles, and our incredible administrative team helps support our training program as well. The training program can often accommodate, based upon trainee interest and satisfactory progress in developing civil forensic skills, external observations of others doing civil and criminal evaluations in the wider forensic psychology community in WA state.
Our experience, which includes support from multiple former DCTs for doctoral programs, helps us specialize in training students during the year they go out for the APPIC match. Former practicum students have gone on to secure internship and/or postdoctoral fellowship opportunities at:

Postdoctoral Fellowship
P. I. E. Corp is a private practice known for high-quality, innovative, and evidence-based civil forensic assessments. Our professional identity emphasizes relevancy-focused and streamlined forensic assessment. We particularly specialize in personal injury referrals of all kinds (e.g., sexual abuse, wrongful death, medical malpractice, injury and accident, dog bite, etc.) as well as more niche and specialized work, including treatment responsiveness, suicide causation, and more. Our work is social justice oriented, with referrals often involving victims of complex trauma as they navigate the legal system.
P. I. E. Corp psychologists have extensive training and experience in forensic psychology, supervision, and assessment. Our practice is also aligned with a wider network of forensic psychologists in the Pacific Northwest, providing opportunities for training in a variety of other referral contexts.
Fellows can expect to write 12 or more forensic civil reports, with opportunities for further training experiences (e.g., other referral questions, research opportunities, etc.) based upon fellow workload and interest. Our program has a particular emphasis on robust and holistic trauma assessment and case conceptualization. We allow the possibility of supervising practicum/externship students as well. P. I. E. Corp aims to offer criminal forensic and research opportunities dependent upon fellow interest. Our supervisors ensure a wide variety of evaluations and assessment styles, and our incredible administrative team helps support our training program as well. Applicants will also learn about practical strategies for creating and managing a forensic psychology private practice. Additionally, fellows will attend regular didactics and supplied trainings relevant to forensic psychology.
P. I. E. Corp offers an NIH-matched salary of $63,480 for the 2027/2028 training year. Additional benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance, HSA account, matched retirement benefits, three in-person workday weeks with the two remaining workdays being entirely remote, 10 days paid vacation, flexible sick leave, compensated trainings and materials, and a compensated trip to the annual American Academy of Forensic Psychology (AAFP) 2027 conference. Fellows with a later start date may elect to attend the 2028 conference as well.

Contracting and Consultation
At P. I. E. Corp, we are on the lookout for individuals who want to work with us, gain expertise in conducting civil personal injury evaluations, and obtain best-practice level supervision and support. We now offer hybrid contracting positions, open to licensed psychologists eligible to practice in WA state (i.e., a WA license or PSYPACT certification), with interest and experience in forensic psychology.
We offer considerable support for those learning this field or wanting to learn best-practice-level procedures in civil forensic assessment, including didactics, training, and weekly consultation slots for contractor support. Our supervisors help contractors learn referral questions, procedures, tests, and our report style. Our administrative team also offers professional editing and record review for contractors, as well. Contractors can expect to receive competitive compensation for their work, as we offer a graduated program in which subsequent reports, and greater levels of contractor independence, offer higher compensation, while still receiving key support.

Consultant & External Supervisor
Dr. Crowell earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Music Performance from the University of Evansville, and her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Forensic Psychology from Palo Alto University. She completed a post-doctoral forensic psychology fellowship through the University of Washington School of Medicine at Western State Hospital.
Dr. Crowell is a licensed psychologist in Washington State and maintains authorization through the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT), which grants Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) and Temporary Authority to Practice (TAP) in a growing number of U.S. states and territories.
Dr. Crowell has over a decade of experience as a forensic evaluator, conducting psychological evaluations for criminal and civil courts throughout the United States. Through her private practice, she undertakes psychological evaluations for adults involved in criminal and civil proceedings. Her professional expertise includes evaluations of adults and juveniles, with specialized experience in diagnostic clarification, trauma and personal injury, mitigation, competency to proceed, and mental state at the time of the offense. She has been qualified as an expert witness in multiple state and federal courts and has been invited to present at several leadership conferences.
Dr. Raquel Morson
Consultant & External Supervisor
Dr. Morson completed her undergraduate degree at Kent State University, with a major in Psychology and minor in Criminology and Justice Studies. Her graduate education was completed at Palo Alto University, in a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), where she earned a M.S. and PhD in Clinical Psychology, with a specialization in Forensic Psychology. Her dissertation was completed as part of a larger study developing a new measure designed to detect malingered PTSD.
Dr. Morson’s clinical and research experience spans a variety of settings serving clinical and justice-involved populations including community mental health, Veteran’s Affairs Medical Centers, a psychiatric inpatient program within a maximum-security state prison, and a state Department of Rehabilitation program. Her year-long APA accredited predoctoral internship was completed at Atascadero State Hospital on California’s central coast.
After obtaining her PhD, Dr. Morson completed a one-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Forensic Psychology, offered through a collaboration between the University of Washington’s School of Medicine and the state of Washington’s Office of Forensic Mental Health Services. As a fellow, Dr. Morson gained additional supervised experience in forensic evaluation within criminal and civil proceedings, inpatient, outpatient, and private practice settings.
